Plein Air sketch - The Barn at French Farm
Two Sundays ago saw me sitting outside in the sunshine, painting at French Farm. French Farm is the most extraordinary creation of outdoor art gallery and working farm. Hosted by the Historical Society of Greenwich, the annual open day took place on September 15. Invited by the society to be one of their "Artists in the Garden", I was so happy to be there. Same spot, same day
This was actually my first demonstration this past Wednesday. Painted as a " how to" for my students. Two pine trees and a perhaps beech tree. With lots of black and cadmium lemon yellow combined to make a lovely, dull background green.
Painting Outside
A perfect day to paint outside. Sadly it was also the last but one day of Summer Camp but what better way to spend it than painting in the shade of the pines at the Garden Education Center. A quick demo of 2 pine trees, watercolor, a journal page. Periwinkle and Van Dyck brown make the most perfect silvery grey for tree trunks .
More rocks - the beach is the only place to be
Another week of not being able to paint outside This time it's just too hot!!! 98 degrees yesterday, for example. So the Out Door class has become an indoor one. "Rocks"-11 x 17".

Had hoped to be outside sketching and painting this summer but alas, the weather is not co operating. So instead I am indoors, trying to stay cool, working in my journal. Watercolor of the rocks at Tod's Point.
Happy 3rd of July - getting ready to celebrate
July the 4 th is one of my favorite holidays. I love the fireflies and the fire works, the picnics and the general sense of delight. That moment before the fire works begin is even better than Christmas morning. "Fire works over the Boat House". Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Watercolor, 11 x 14".
Hurrah for Summer
Summer seems to have finally arrived. Yeah, my favorite season. Friday, the longest day of the year and we saw our first hummingbird in the garden on Friday evening and our first fireflies. A very good beginning. Walking at the beach we have even seen a couple of brave swimmers. So to celebrate Summer, a journal page of paddlers.
