Hawks at the seaside, hoping for leftovers. Once a tidal island but now connected to the mainland, Enoshima is rather like a tiny Mont St Michel, complete with its own pilgrimage sites. Popular as a fishing destination, it attracts more than its fair share of hawks who hover optimistically, hoping for scraps. Walking along the causeway one can often see Mt Fuji rising into the clouds.
After the rain storms yesterday, a beautiful morning. Birds and worms everywhere but not everyone shares the same definition of what constitutes a good day.

Moving from self portraits to animals portraits. A quick warm up exercise using one color, black and white to encourage thinking in terms of negative space, values and fluid lines.
A rare view of the Lesser Spotted Random Basket Weaver Bird upon her nest. In my paper weaving class last weekend I learnt how to weave a random basket beginning with a pentangle structure. Here you can see the nest resting on a paper mache cactus.
Finishing up the paint after a day's worth of acrylics. Of course, I hate to waste anything so the leftover paint finds a way into my collage journal.
From Monday's collage class, an early spring rain and some new green leaves. The birds seem very happy.
