"View From Above"

For the last year or so I have been working towards a show at the Round Hill Community Church gallery.  (My Fifth)  The opening was Sunday, May 6th.  It was a lovely, cool spring day.  The show will hang until noon on Wednesday, June 20th.  A good long time.  The gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 9 to 3 pm.  To check on opening times, please call the Round Hill office at 203 869 1091.  The show was hung by the amazingly talented Mirella.  Very many thanks to all who came to the opening and made it such a happy event. David suggested the title as I was looking for a way to combine my landscapes and my birds.  I meant to do a "Bird's eye view" painting but somehow managed to run out of time.  Here is the Invitational image, "Georgia's View" which shows the Pedernal Mountain in the distance.  Georgia O'Keefe would climb onto the roof of her adobe house and paint and draw the mountain many, many times.  It is the Mount Fuji of the South West.

Finishing up.

Knowing that I am very busy at the moment preparing for my One person show, Lancelot and Agile kindly offered to help me work on my paper mache owl.  Here you see the owl in a late development stage, receiving a final coat of the Financial Times.  With luck the owl will be dry and ready to be decorated just in time for the opening of my show on May 6th. I am so grateful to Lancelot and Agile for their help.

Secret Passageway

A secret passageway or tunnel through the trees, leading one onto the beach.    Tucked away at the end of a quiet street, one passes through the shade and enters another world of light and water.  Watch Hill, Rhode Island.  A study for a much larger painting for my upcoming show, "View From Above."
